Bed Frames
You can't have a bedroom without a bed, and you can't have a bed without a bed frame. As the main support system for your bed, you need a frame that will not only fit your mattress, but keep you feeling supported and prevent your mattress from sagging or wearing out prematurely....⮟
This can make buying a bed frame a hard task, and the search only gets harder when you consider your budget and space needs. It doesn't matter whether you're looking for a traditional style king bed or a single kids base with a trundle, we have bed frames for every kind of sleeper at Artiss. We have a wide range of bed frames in all kinds of materials, from luxurious plush upholstery to sturdy powder-coated steel. From headboard to feet, we'll have your whole family sleeping comfortably.
What's in a bed frame?
There are 4 main things you'll want to consider before choosing the perfect bed frame. These make up the foundations of great bed bases and are important to know if you want the right bed frames to suit your lifestyle.
The construction
How is the bed frame made? Does it come pre-assembled or will you have to build it yourself from a flat pack? Does it use quality joints and brackets? How it's constructed may affect its weight capacity, its durability and whether it's long-lasting.
The foundation
The foundation is the main support system you use to hold up your mattress. The most popular kind of foundation is the box spring, which is a wood or metal framework (that traditionally once contained springs) that is then covered in material.
The slatted bed is another type of foundation that contains evenly spaced wooden slats across a frame - this can help with airflow under the bed and the mattress.
Metal bed frames are usually raised and have a sturdy and durable construction, though a heavier mattress may need additional support.
Solid platforms typically come with a higher price tag but are one of the most stylish foundation types, giving a solid uniform platform to rest your bed on.
Adjustable foundations are used for sofa beds and other kinds of adjustable bed frames and are usually best suited for memory foam or hybrid mattresses.
The materials
The most common materials used in bedframes are wood and metal. Wood bed frames come in a wide variety of shapes, styles and sizes, and they are incredibly durable. Wood frames may be made out of solid wood, or they may be made from plywood, particleboard, or high-density MDF. A good wooden bed frame will last a lifetime.
Upholstered bed frames are made by putting a padded layer over a wood frame. This can transform a wooden frame from an elegant but cold piece of furniture to a soft, cosy surface fit for dreaming. This upholstery can be made of natural fabrics like cotton, linen and leather, or synthetic materials like PU-leather, vinyl or acrylic.
Metal frames may be made out of stainless-steel, powder coated steel or iron, and are incredibly strong with great weight capacity.
The headboard
Do you want a headboard on your bed frame? Luckily for you, bed frames can come with or without headboards, giving you the flexibility to style however you choose.
Headboards are used as a barrier between the bed frame and your bedroom wall. They can be used to prop up decorative pillows and cushions, keep the cold away from your sleeping head, provide back and neck support and generally uplift your bedroom decor. Some even come with additional storage space, so you can have all your nighttime essentials in one easy, convenient place.

Bed frame FAQs
How do I know what size bed frame I need?
Standard Australian mattresses come in the following sizes:
Single: 915 x 1900mm (36 x 74.8")
Double: 1385 x 1900mm (54.5 x 74.8")
Queen: 1525 x 2030mm (60 x 80")
King: 1835 x 2030mm (72.2 x 80")
Your bed frame should be slightly larger than your mattress size by roughly an inch or so. Artiss bed frames fit standard Australian mattresses, though you can check the exact width and length in the product description.
If you're shopping for a new bed and haven't decided on mattress size, consider your sleeping habits. Are you likely to thrash in your sleep? What position do you normally sleep in? Do you share your bed with a partner? Do you have kids who love to join in for morning cuddles? Each of these points will help determine the right mattress for you. Of course, for the best night's sleep, choose the biggest bed your bedroom can accommodate.
